Stella Immanuel - the doctor behind unproven coronavirus cure claim

Facebook and Twitter have taken down the viral video in which she appears, saying it violates their policies about misinformation - but not before it was retweeted by Donald Trump and one of his sons.

The US president defended himself, saying he found Dr Immanuel, who was born in Cameroon and is based in the Texan city of Houston, "very impressive".

"She said that she had tremendous success with hundreds of different patients, I thought her voice was an important voice but I know nothing about her," he said on Tuesday.

Dr Immanuel, who is also a Christian pastor, gave a speech on the steps of the US Supreme Court in Washington, captured in a video first published by right-wing website Breitbart on Monday.   https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-53579773

Phase three trials are the final step in determining how safe and effective a vaccine is, and the new investment comes as the Trump administration hopes for a high-profile rollout of initial vaccines in as soon as three months.Even though there are still many unknowns about whether promising vaccines being tested will actually work, Trump himself has been very optimistic in his public comments. “We’re very close to the vaccine — I think we’re going to have some very good results,” Trump said    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/07/26/trump-invests-moderna-vaccine-candidate-381690?fbclid=IwAR17uft101HGhaYvUOxSLe3yHtvTKzJpNS3kkloKnVEFYZUCMB5u0BChHnY

Just listened to what was billed as a major speech by Mitt Romney in Bedford, NH.  I must state that Mr. Romney did not offer one thing that would cure the economic ills of the country.  In fact, the only thing that he offered was to balance the budget and repeal the health care act.  I don't know of any reputable economist that thinks that balancing the budget at this time would cure our economic problems.
Rep. Boehner: We Are Here And Ready To Work To Solve Differences; We've Done Our Work For The People, Now It's Up To President & Senate

I think Boehner has it all wrong.  The legislative branch is an equal branch of government.  It is up to the House and the Senate to pass a bill for the president to sign.  Boehner needs to get to work.  The Senate has passed a bipartisan bill and he needs to get his caucus in gear.
Speaker Boehner at a news conference states that the House already passed a bill and the President should get the Senate to go into conference to reconcile the bill.  He also stated that payroll processing companies state the 2 month extension is unworkable.

This is the first I have heard of Congress taking the advice of payroll processing companies in passing tax bills.  The brinkmanship continues.
This is not a game, stated the President in response to a Republican Congressman statement that the theater around the payroll tax is a high stake poker game.  He asked that the Speaker bring up the payroll tax cut bill for a vote.
